The ShadeSling Story

I had been on a quest for years. A quest to find the perfect sunglasses holder for my car, but was never able to find one. 

The Problem

I had recently spent $400 on a new pair of designer sunglasses. I needed to find a secure, safe and accessible solution to store them in my car. 

First, I tried storing them in my car's cupholder or door pocket. But because they weren't secure, the lenses got scratched. Not to mention, they were difficult to easily and quickly find. 

Next, I tried a plastic clip with a metal spring that attached to my car's sun visor. But because it was a combination of plastic and metal, the clip itself and the glasses in them would rattle as I drove down the road. The noise this created was maddening.

To address this, I purchased a magnetic leather sunglass holder clip that attached to the visor thinking it would better secure my glasses without the rattling. However this method proved even more problematic as I'll further explain.

I started to notice my sunglasses were sitting crooked on my face. I went to my eye clinic to see if they could adjust them. After all, spending so much money, I wasn't about to just throw them away and buy another pair. The final straw for me came when the eye technician told me I was to blame for the way my sunglasses sat on my face. I must have been removing them with one hand causing them to bend: a cardinal sin for eyeglass wearers. I wasn't buying her explanation, so she went on to tell me "no one's face is symmetrical". My eyes and ears must be uneven which caused the sunglasses to sit crooked on my face.

Mildly insulted but not swayed, I finally discovered the actual reason: my magnetic leather clip sunglass holder. It was a soft appearing magnetic closing holder, but it was ruining my frames by pinching them and when the car got warm in the heat of summer, the arms of the glasses warped and bent under the pressure from the clip. No, it wasn't my ears. 

I had to find a better solution. ShadeSling was born.
